Located at the 27 stages of the World trade center of Brussels that installation is actually shut in the floor.
That place is very interesting, one tower is for the Belgium immigration office, the other one is quite empty, the last is not ending to build since 30 years.
I would like to work on the high frequency trading. In an ironical way.
That floor where the installation is kept was those from Dexia, a bank who fail in 2008. They were bought by Belfius.
Some people of the project were arrested because suspected of terrorism. That's the point why they kept it. Why it's actually close. That's a long story.
At the bottom in the park there had during one year a refugee camp. They were waiting for papers. Some of them was sleeping in the last not finished tower (actually there is only reinforced concrete).
So it's like an artistic chimera.
I think that project is not finished.
That's the beginning.

Installation pirate dans les anciens bureaux de la banque Dexia au 27ème étage du World Trade Center à Bruxelles. Ces locaux ont été abandonnés après la faillite de la banque en 2008.
Une des tours du WTC abrite les bureaux de l’immigration, l’autre est pratiquement vide suite au flop de l’immobilier.
J’ai ici recrée une cabane de trader en carton, pour jouer à la finance. Mettant en avant le trading haute fréquence, maître de la finance actuelle régit principalement par des ordinateurs et des algorithmes. L’individu qui joue à la bourse n’est maintenant presque qu’un souvenir comme une pratique de l’ancien temps. C’est à la fois une sorte de commémoration à l’image commune du trading comme une critique enfantine d’un nouveau système financier à la base d’une déshumanisation des rouages de la société. Une avancée vers la singularité technologique vue de façon rétro.
